Interview with on line magazine Illosangeles

English translation of: CHIARA TOWNLEY: 2 YEARS 4 MONTHS 2 HOURS: STORIA DEL SUCCESSO I haven’t written in Italian for a while. I have always been Italian in the heart, but the English language represents my essence of world’s citizen. I have always loved traveling and studying foreign languages. I attended the linguistic high school, and later, the University of Languages and Tourism in Milan, where I was born.

I have always been curious to know the world, its colors and its shades. After graduation I decided to go to London. I thought it was the easiest place to start an international career that would take me around the world.

Today I’m writing from San Francisco. The story of how I got here is in the first book that I self published this year: “2 Years 4 Months 2 Hours” I have always been a hopeless romantic. In the cold winter mornings, in London, I was waiting for a prince that would take me away, possibly in a warm place. That prince arrived one day of September, while I was working in a hotel in London. I didn’t know anything about him. It was love at first sight. Sometimes it happens that we meet that someone when he’s about to leave, and that’s what happened to me. I am Italian and he is American. We wrote each other for three months, while I was living in London and he was backpacking in South America. The rest is the story of a brave woman that fights for a love that seems impossible. We have been married, now, for almost two years.

After publishing my first book I decided to work on a second project: a book about the challenges that expat women have to face in the United States. I have met amazing women in the last years. They are very talented women, whose life is hindered by the strict immigration laws. Through my personal story and the stories of these women, I would like to explain the Immigration laws, bring awareness and hopefully foster a change.

My passion for writing was born from the urge to pass a message of courage and hope. I have listened to my heart against all odds and I want to push people to do the same and follow their dreams.
